Biography

Ms. Lee-Johnson was born in Korea, studied in France, Germany, Korea, and the USA.

She holds a B.F.A from the Parsons School of Design. She worked as an Environmental Designer in New York. She further studied at the Art Student League New York. She now paints full-time from her Studios in New York City, Italy, and Puerto Rico.

Ms. Lee-Johnson’s work celebrates the love of mathematics and nature in a context of cultural differences and abstraction. “It is a magical moment to create the natural look” from inanimate materials.

Ms. Lee-Johnson’s art is a clear reflection of intercultural influences provided by her international studies and travel.

Awards

  • In 2005 Ms. Lee-Johnson won The Lloyd Sherward Grant and Award in Abstract Painting. This required her to produce a body of abstract paintings. During this time she started developing her “Abstract Mind” and “My Life” series of psychological impact paintings.
  • In 2006 Ms. Lee-Johnson won the Merit Scholarship award.
  • In 2013 Ms. Lee-Johnson won the Dorothy L. Irish Memorial Award for Oil
    Painting presented through the National Association of Women Artist in New York.

  • In 2005 exhibited a solo show at the Ezair Gallery on Madison Avenue in Manhattan.
